The ethnographic Museu de la Vida Rural of the Lluís Carulla Foundation is situated in l’Espluga de Francolí (Conca de Barberà, Tarragona), the home town of Lluis Carulla i Canals. This educational institution began its activities in 1988 with the intention of collecting, conserving, restoring, studying and exhibiting objects, tools and utensils which can help us understand better the lifestyles and working systems of the rural areas of the Lower Ebro Basis or New Catalonia as it is called.
Our founder established the museum up in the casa pairal or country home of his family. This house has been documented in the town archives for more than two centuries from 1704 and it was from this house that the family served as apothecaries and owners of the pharmacy. |
